NHR: The Avett Brothers are coming home

If you look at my blogger profile, you'll see 30 or so of the hundreds of musicians that I dig. I've seen a countless number of concerts in my young life and The Avett Brothers are by far my favorite live show experience.

I can't tell you how proud I am of these guys who recently were signed by the Columbia Records group, American Records. The band has been touring non-stop throughout the country and remains one of the hardest working groups in the business. Their new EP, The Second Gleam was released today and it is outstanding as usual.

As of Tuesday night, the show still wasn't sold out for this Saturday the 26th at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday than to see my favorite band back in their home state at such an awesome venue (which just happens to be right down the street from the homestead).

What an amazing concert, venue & crowd! The band actually created an audio/video contest for this show only. Whoever submitted the best video & photo will receive some good Avett Bros. schwag. With so many cameras in action, there is plenty of good YouTube clips from the show. The setlist is posted on the bands official site.

The Avett Brothers - NC's Finest

Scott & Seth Avett, along with Bob Crawford on the stand-up bass, comprise a wonderful "thrash-grass" band entitled, "The Avett Brothers". Hailing from outside Charlotte, NC, this critically acclaimed group grows their fanbase more every day.

Tune in (or set DVR to record) to Late Night with Conan O'Brien this Friday, 5/11 as they will be the featured musical guest!

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing their live show, do yourself the favor.

Their new album entitled "Emotionalism" will be released on Tuesday 5/15. As part of the coming out party, the boys will be playing a live in-store @ Schoolkids Records on Hillsborough St. near the NCSU campus on Tuesday 12:00 noon.

We got to see these guys as undergrads at East Carolina U. There was no doubt in my mind that they would be hitting it big time in the music industry. Congrats to them and keep them beats-a-stompin boys!
